Twelve-year-old Tony poses for a portrait with his beloved tiny pet---A native From the Rainforests of Brazil. Tony’s pet whose standing on the collar of his sweat jacket hood looks at his giant master with deep affection. The tiny native saw his colossal giant boy from the West as his beloved.
The previous summer, Tony’s family went to Brazil. There had been a week of heavy drenching rain and ended the day before Tony’s family was to arrive. Tony’s parents almost cancelled the trip. But they knew this was the best time to go. The day after they arrived Tony went on a youth hike into the Rainforest with young teens from around the world. During the hike Tony to his surprise and horror as with the other young hikers, saw the bodies of tiny natives strewn about small holes of muddy water. They had drowned during the week of torrential rainfall. The guide recommended they bury the tiny natives out of respect. During this sad act of mercy, Tony found one barely alive. Wrapping the tiny native in a handkerchief to keep it warm, Tony placed it into one of his cargo pockets to his khaki shorts. Once back at the hotel and with the help of his mother Tony nursed the young native back to health. This really endeared the native to Tony’s heart. And the native once getting over the shock of being with one of the giants from the west grew very fond of his gentle caring giant.
